I am part of this food club called Arganica– where I get a crate of delicious organic veggies every week. The fun thing about this whole endeavor is that sometimes I don’t know what I am getting, don’t know what to do with it, and have never even seen it before!! I had one of those experiences the other week- where I got this:
The facebook consensus was some sort of greens. Turnip green perhaps, or collard greens! While these things are super healthy and delicious by themselves, lightly sauteed with garlic and olive oil, I was getting adventurous with my new cuisine art stick blender. What better than a smoothie for hot summer days! Greens in a smoothie? Yuk you say? Think again!
Superfood Green but Purple Smoothie
- a bunch of greens (this could include kale, turnip greens, collard greens etc)
- frozen fruit (I used strawberries and blackberries)
- a nugget (is that what you call those?) of ginger
- one juicy peach
- a squirt of honey
- for extra superfood bonus squeeze a couple of capsules of Omega 3 fish oil into the mix- but if you do add a lime to cute the fishy taste
- crushed ice
mix it all together with your handy mixer and
viola voila! Superfood smoothie for a healthy breakfast or snack.
